I'm finally back. Of course instead of having all 5 computers running I only have my Core 2 Duo 6400 OC from 2.13 to 2.71 and my Sempron OC from 2.0 to 2.35. Of course my electric usage has been the lowest ever lol.

Somthing I do want to mention, besides the 1 computer that has an Intel CPU I am now boycotting Intel. Even though it's a good business manuver, they should not be competing with the "OLPC". I am going to be starting a page with more info later.

Competition is good; maybe it'll force OLPC to figure out how to make a $100 laptop, well, $100.

Oh, and competition is all the rage in the charity field these days, economic study suggests it helps focus resources. Monopolies arent good even when the cost to the end user is "free".

Good point Ringold. I followed OLPC since '04 and know they are the first in the "field", if others were charity they would be working together on this. Also they are not $100 due to no mass prodcution.

Charities competing, and companies competeing is great for the "end user". But businesses competing charities is just wrong, its like Master Chief fighting Daxter. They are in 2 different weight classes is what I'm trying to say.

Charities are just the PR wings for the rich and for corporations anyway, I guess I dont see the distinction Especially if competition forces both to improve. As an aside, I fear for OLPC if they're relying on economies of scale for a magic fix..

I'm about to upgrade from my 3800+ to an Opteron 185. My 3800 will probably get put into an old motherboard for Boinc though. Can never crunch enough.
