Let me be more clear, any of the projects that use math. Try to stay away from the protien folding and climatepreditcion projects. I used to run math on a bunch of PII and PIII machines I had.

Today was the first day I actually went DOWN in the rankings rather than up in over 5 weeks. Guess it had to end somewhere! Still happy tho!

@DOSMAN: Check out the LLR application of PrimeGrid, the WU's are very short and suitable for older machines. It is Windows only though.

@DOSMAN. I have a old PIII - 400 MHz that is able to crunch Einstein workunits as well, all that needs is 64 MB of RAM so if you have that, that is always an option as well. I also have it running PrimeGrid as well like AlphaLaser said

@DOSMAN: You can run several projects if you have the memory and are willing to wait. I have 2 PIIIs running SETI, MalariaControl and Spinhenge. The last two are short WU (2-4 hrs) while SETI takes 6-30 hrs. Einstein runs too, but it's pretty slow.

@DOSMAN: I recommend PrimeGrid, RieselSieve, Rectilinear Crossing Number, Leiden Classical, and possibly Spinhenge

QMC takes a few days on my 3.0GHz, I surely would never try it on an old computer...

I appreciate all the suggestions! Both SIMAP and LHC work well for me, but they so rarely have work anymore. I run TANPAKU and Malaria Control now, but TANPAKU's been giving me issues lately and I am unsure about the project's usefulness.

Malaria Control, on the other hand, caches so often to disk that it slows the computer (and itself) almost to a halt whenever I try to use the PC for something else. Unfortunately, my computer's RD-RAM makes upgrading not worth the expense.

DOSMAN: unless MC app is *really* badly written, it should obey your "write to disk every X" global pref, try changing that

he is right Malaria does have a known issue. Go for QMC if deadline is not met they will manuely validate on prior request.

user name is jcpt928 - and my ID number repeatedly "fails to exist" and a search for my username under stats occasionally shopws up with a non-existant user prompt - any help would be appreciated...

jcpt928: I was able to go strait to your stats no problem by clicking on your name in the shout box. If the date is correct for when you signed up with BAM, then the server may have needed some time to add you in. My guess at least.

jcpt928: Your ID is not "jcpt928" it is "James / jcpt928". If you'll key that in the Search Box you'll find yourself. :-)

either that or uncheck the box that says exact match and you can type in either "James" or "jcpt928" and you'll come up.
