@Qurmo: If you're running Boinc in a DOS box, yes it's possible. Go to www. extendingflash. com/ utilities/ runhide. html for info on the utility that does this.

Bug in installing Boinc as a service. Sometimes you have to open services. msc and configure Boinc to run under the local user name in order to get the service to start.

@JRenkar: When I was able to check the CPDN website afterwards, it said client error on the model, so I'm guessing that that is the problem. Oh well, I lost 1,200 credits on a seti beta WU yesterday after 130 hours of crunching.

The icon is Boinc Manager and you can just close this in task manager OR start boinc using boinc. exe -redirectio if you don't want to use the service install.

Some security. Every time I try to install Boinc as a service, it gives me an error that it couldn't start the service, and the installation program exits without installing anything.

Had same prob for ages, when it says "starting services" during install, I have to go to - Control Panel/ Admintools/ Services

@Russel John: There are other projects beside SETI out there, crunch for them while SETI is down.

Yeah, Riesel Sieve has jumped almost 4x in processing power since Seti went down. It's really nice. Please, help other projects while Seti is down. It will make a difference.

Seti crunchers. . . . why crunch 80 hour workunits on some projects? Come to Riesel Sieve and crunch short 45 minute workunits!!! :-)

@homested; I'm ~1 week behind you. I'd be neck & neck if LHC was reporting. I'm happy to see WUs starting to trickle.

How's about a poll like "Which project are you running mostly waiting for Setiathome?"?
