there are many dual 771 socket mobos that are ATX. As for memory. Depends on the project. Always use sets of 4 DIMMS for Xeon 5xxx series.

Win can only see just over 3gb RAM. So if you need more, go Linux (or Mac).

@zombie67: If you alter the boot.ini file and add the /PAE ( Physical Address Extension) This enables windows to recognise more than the 3or4Gb of ram (i Have over 9Gb of ram in each of my servers)

one of my 2 cpdn will take 140h, the other 700h. both is quite short imho, it's because of my new puter. the last one on my old one would have taken 4000h (all CPU-time of course)

Different types of CPDN workunit take different times. Slab can be really quick (7d on overclocked C2D), wereas a 160year coupled model might take 1800 hours on the same PC.
