My laptop just made 200 credits in SIMAP. . . . Not bad considering it takes 4 hours a WU! God bless the P2 266MHz machines! lol

LoL 133Mhz PCs here about 0. 8creds/hr. Annoying when that 58hr WU errors out

Ich finde: eon tolles Projekt. Leider nicht regelmäßig WU´s am Start. Und ich habe hie am "schwarzen Brett" auch mal einen Hinweis gelesen, dass wieder WU da sind. . .

LHC always has intermittent work. They like to process their results before deciding on a new batch of calculations, rather than idle work of no use to them.

Hello everybody! Does anyone know when LHC Alpha will allow new users?

isn't LHC Alpha by invitation only? LHC Alpha isnt your typical BOINC. . its rigorous testing on all OS and credit is hardly given

my p2 266 laptop is going to break 1000!

@all: Within 1 week or so, we'll hit 100,000 TeraFLOPS combined. Of course if it weren't for cheating projects like s@h and e@h who doesn't grant the claimed credit but cheats, we would have hit the 100,000 TeraFLOPS a long time ago.

Works fine from Hull. . . check your firewall/router/has your ISP blocked it?

check 'BOINC Combined -> Project Stats' above. Says combined 415 TFLOP/s. . . 100,000 is a lot! Bluegene/L only does 280. 6 TFLOP/s with 131072 procs (Nov 05 data)

@borandi: I was referring to the total combined credit, and I based this estimate on the apparent fact that 1 Cobblestone equals 10 milllion FLOPs according to Primegrid and Rosetta@home. Please correct me if I'm wrong

heh its the distinction between FLOPs (total) and FLOP/s (per second) =D. So 100,000 TFLOPs (100 PFOPs, 0. 1 EFLOPs) = 10 bill creds Good on all of us I say.

@borandi: Yep it's pretty well done by our member. But imagine that someday in the future 10 billion cobblestones a day will be the least, if planetquests dreams come true with 1 billion members

When those multicores start from my X2 4400+ (1200 creds per day) up to IBMS 1024 kilocore tech and beyond then the proper computing begins!

@borandi: You're absolutely right my friend. The proper computing lies in the future, and the future belongs to the multicores. I thought that Intel was supposed to come up with a 10 core this year, is it delayed or was it a mistake? When do we KiCo?

AFAIK, Intel's roadmap has scheduled an 8 core by the end of 2008. . . lets hope their architecture is up to it. AMD ftw
Guest

@borandi: 2008 LOL, it's to long into the future. I bet AMD can beat it with an even pricier and faster core system

well Intel 65nm < AMD 90nm. Conroe sounds too good to be true, AM2 isnt much of a leap (DDR to DDR2 ~5% performance on benchmarks). Just wait until AMD hits 65nm and 45nm - then heads at Intel will roll! (They'll go for -ve nm processes lol)
