SETI moved some equipment around and are having connection problems. I am NOT having Predictor WUs hanging (x8 hosts).

@Java: Must just be me. (I've had a couple that will crunch for 20-something hours on a PIII and only be at like 8 percent, with the completion time always increasing. )

Getting a new computer. Whats best for computation? Pentium D 830 (2x3Ghz) or AMD 64 X2 4400+? I've read reviews and benchmarks but they've all been mixed reviews or not focused on math analysis. I also want decent FPS on games. Thoughts?

I've already got gfx sorted, my last decision is processor. Most reviews I've seen puts AMD X2 ahead graphically even though its a slower dual core than Intel but with a higher FSB.

Maybe schloss is confused with BOINCSynergy, they are asking everywhere to join their team. I don't post it anywhere, except in my own signature (and I don't post that much on the BOINC forums).

@borandi: For games the best you can get is the AMD FX57 or for a tighter budget the Athlon64 4000+. For games dual-core isn't important at the moment.

Or you could do what I do, take a Winchester 3000+ (1800) and overclock it to 2750MHz. It works pretty good believe you me.

saw once a setup overclocked to +5Ghz he was using liquid air to cool the cpu 8)
