After doing a little research and translation I've determined that Shoft is a for-profit enterprise operated by 3 men from Moscow. They are developing this project to sell grid-computing services to corporate customers. I won't participate.

You "anti-shofter's" must be socialists. You act like profit is a dirty word. I don't see the problem as long as they fully disclose the projects goals. W/O profit incentive, do you think you'd have that computer in your home right now?

I'm not sure what being a "socialist" has to do with it. Even a socialist can make a profit. My problem is they want to use my computer for their own financial gain. If you want to help them make money knock yourself out....

@uba66: from what i gather they are doing a beta type test to show the value of grid computing to corp customers. boinc was dev. for scientific purposes but this company wants to use it to make money. if someone else wants to contribute fine w/me.

@KEP: Why not CPDN - their WU's take a year to crunch (and you don't need to be online - so long as you return all the data before the year is out!!
