Will SIMAP@Home be supported in the stats? It just came online (it seems), so it's still new

Doesn't look like SIMAP has exported XML yet. Without that, there's nothing to support it with.

this is why I attached my various hosts to at least 2 and sometimes 3 or 4 projects.

Those WU's you are waiting to upload that are expiring should still get credit, since you will be returning the result before the WU can be re-processed by another user. I wouldn't worry much about it.

@Grenadier: I'm not so sure. I had a look to my account and the wu's I was trying to upload during outages are reported with an awful "No reply" because the deadline has been missed... A lot of crunching for nothing :-((

There's an update on the SETI Tech News page that specifically says they are not running the job that would purge outdated results, so that people who are past their deadlines will have a chance to upload. You haven't lost those credits yet, unless you purged the WU's yourself or something.

Anyone know whats the reason for the sharp change in seti positions? I see a small number went up, while the majority seemed to take large hits...

Don't know what is going on, but I have a bunch of credits added and lost 2 members of my team.

They've simply added the all (some of) the credit that has been sitting in the validator queue for the last few weeks (i.e. they are getting caught up).

Do they really think the down time will help? They must but as soon as it comes back online Seti will be slammed again and credit will be pending once more.

actually, this will help because about 40% of the files in the directories were orphans. The code was fixed but the files needed to be purged.

In other words, YES, it should help, since they fixed a rather large bug in their workflow that was contributing to the slowdowns.

Just remember that they've also said that the deleters and assimilators are still working way too slow. They are working on that now. They also should be getting online today (tuesday)

And tghunt has a point about the backlogs. Seti WILL get slammed and there will be an immediate backlog. tey also said that they will not purge the DB anytime soon, so the directories should also be filling up pretty rapidly too. Same problem basically except for the orphaned files....

Well at least this has made it clear that there is a deeper problem than just the orphaned files. Modern file systems really shouldn't be severly impacted simply because of a few hundred thousand extra files being present.

What is it with the formatting error in line 2 of these posts? The second line is always nearly empty.

No, not the same problem at all. The ammount of data being processed by SETI is significantly reduced, and as things flood in it can keep up, should prevent the kind of backup that was present before. Yes, as they said, it wasn't as helpful as they'd hope it would be, but its not like you'll know the results of what you do till you try it. give them a break.
