haha, yeah, but its working for me, and I hear that downgrading can break things, so for now Ill stick with it untill a new 6.x.x is out.

so are your stats linux based? all my systems are windows based (that's why I'm curious)

My comput times are better just by using server 2008 then xp on the same comp, by about 5%

I'm currently crunching on four computers. Note that on the two dual core computers, BOINC gets one core, Folding@HOME gets the other.

My "powerhouse", an AMD x64 4200+, running Fedora Core 8 x64.

I have one of the WalMart gOS PC's. I had to re-format the hard drive (it was a return), so I installed Xubuntu (then installed Gnome and KDE). It runs a Via Nehemia processor, which is a single core, low power and heat processor. It's a bit weak, but it has SSE3, which helps with optomized applications (few and far between).

I have a G5 PPC 2.3GHz, one of the last PPC desktops out. It's running OSX 10.4. The stats look abysmal, but better standardization allows good use of various optimizations. Programs optimized for the PPC will naturally "spread" across multiple cores, so some applications like the World Community Grid apps will run on both cores as a single instance.

I will note that the BOINC 5.10.30 client does seem to report higher values than the older client. I don't know if it's more accurate, better optimized, or just a bit off.

So, I just updated from the client 5.10.30 to ~.32. Now, the stats are 702 Whetstone and 1695 Dhrystone.

I'm assuming nothing has shorted out in my processor, but that's quite a difference in FPU. I've noticed that if I run the CPU benchmarks, the results change a bit by the hour. This happens on a PPC G5, two different AMD Athlon XP+'s (one retired), and AMD 64, and a Via processor, under Windows, OSX, and three Linux distros. There is also usually a more significant change if I go between BOINC versions.

Is this normal? I assume it's things like other background processes, heat, the data gnomes being too hung over to run the data buckets about, magic smoke getting stale, etc.

Im running windows 7 on a Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5400 o/c'ed to 3.58Ghz and get a benchmark of:

This is using BOINC Manager 6.6.36

I have a new "powerhouse". My primary PC is an AMD Phenome 8450 triple core running Vista 64. BOINC runs on all three cores, while Folding@Home runs on the video card. (Currently, I'm only running BOINC occasionally. I hope to resume crunching in a couple months. I was getting close to one million points!!!)

So, the Athlon and Phenome are actually pretty close with floating point, even though the Phenome is newer. I guess the Phenome sacrifices floating point for integer so the average user will see more speed from a slightly smaller die cast and clock speed.
