So this is what the Linux version of a BSOD looks like (at least this time on the BOINCstats database server):

Unfortunately, this image doesn't show the blinking colors and changing letters.

It looks familiar to me, but on my laptop the columns were so small that I couldn't read the characters,
but more important, the machine itself was normal working except for the screen output.

I had memtest do something similar, wouldn't run a complete pass until a garbled screen like that showed up. Turns out the memory in question was pretty bad.

I did a memcheck on the server, no errors found.

Not only did the os upgrade take very long, it also locked up during the daily update.

The d@mn thing is out of it's frikking mind now, three lockups in four hours.

Well, bad news people, today's multiple server lockups finally caused a non-recoverable error in the stats. Today the user history table was damaged and I was not able to make it work again without recovering yesterdays history table. This means that today is not present in the history tables.

Sorry guys, another lockup during my repairs.

Okay people, this has gone on long enough now, I can no longer guarantee stats updates with this server, worse, data is lost now, and that is something I really regret (although I will do my very best to recover all lost data)

I have decided to take the database server offline and I will move all its tasks to the webserver. The host updates and challenges will be discontinued until the new server is online.

You will notice that the updates run on the webserver because during updates, the site will be slow or unreachable.

Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to make some coffee for what will be a very long night.

I got most of it back, browsed around a bit and it looks good to me but I'm getting a bit sleepy (current awake time 22 hours and counting) so I might have missed something.

Ok Willy, I see you had time to move my post to BOINCstats bugs, but no reply so I donated about $11usd to the cause. Now can you explain why my sig graphic doesn't update and if there is an ETA for addressing that bug? Thanks.

*Edit* Oh, I do realize you've been having hardware issues and are working overtime on that... just wanted some info. I don't think that just cause I donated a couple bucks that I get to start crackin' the whip on ya.

I bought the memory and SSD's yesterday. The CPU, mainboard, chassis and RAID controller are ordered and can take a while to be delivered (unfortunately). All the other parts are easily available so I get these when the price is right or when the main parts come in.

Intel has donated a server barebone with mainboard and two Intel Xeon X5570's.

I'm still waiting for other parts to arrive before I can start assembling the server.
