PSUs are the first things that will go bad when crunching 24/7 in my personal experience (especially when working whith them so-called A-Brands)

Meaning Computers from IBM, Compaq, Dell, HP, etc. None are built to work 24/7/365 (nor do these companies claim their systems are built to work when used as such)

@Jose - That is so true! When purchasing my last computer, I told the agent about my intentions as I was discussing the extended warranties, he suggested that no one needs know that information! Good thing I have been working with him for over a decade!

I build all my systems, at least for the last 15 years now! But I have a GOOD warranty program - fix it if it breaks(until it is OLD)!! Or the MAGIC smoke leaks out!

Love them psu's when they go out at 3am with a "POP". scushing asks "what the %$#@ was that?". I say "Oh just another power supply went out, go back to sleep".

I like that the fan always spins long enough to make sure the magic smoke and smell gets moved out of the dead PSU

I like building my systems, but my current machines are laptops... not much of a future building your own laptop. Need laptop(s) for work, so still trying to save for that 'true' crunching machine... Soon, soon. @dcushing* - There is nothing like the smell of burnt electronics first thing in the morning - permeating everything.

I hear productivity goes up if you crunch on a laptop while getting a lap dance. If only you can keep it up long enough. The lap dance. Gets expensive. Wish I had a laptop. Waiting outside clubs with a desktop is inconvenient. Especially on rainy evenings.

IBM is opening its scorecard. The challenge was never meant for it to get to the first spot, but to put the project at the top.

@IBM - nice, thank you for hosting. Truly the project gets the benefit!

@Russia - I think if your 2 teams would have combined your efforts, Russia may have taken the 2nd place spot instead of battling for 3rd! ;-)

@Mankka*, plus if you crunch humanitarian projects like WCC, the lap dances are tax deductible!!! At least I think so. Sounds reasonable to me.

@2e and hoarfrost: Wow! You guys could have put your credits in one big Russia pot and pulled out an EASY 2nd place. Of course, I understand it doesn't work that way most of the time, but here you have Russia in 3rd, 4th, 5th AND 6th! Pretty sweet. How often does that happen? :-)

It is interesting indeed. Congratulations to the Russian Teams. However, I have to say well done Sicituradastra for even if the Russian teams combine you would still get the first place.
