Please consider participating in the SIMAP King of the Hill Scramble beginning the first of May.

Currently BOINCstats is #43 in Team RAC [Recent average credit]

Project status

Calculation of SIMAP updates is starting soon.

The calculation of new simap workunits containing the novel proteins from april 2008 (simap app) and their domains (hmmer app) will start on april 30th in the evening (UTC).

The May SIMAP 'King of the Hill' Scramble is over in just a day and a half.

It will probably be a week before the caches empty and the pending credits are awarded, but as of now, BOINCstats is in 17th place in team RAC.

. . . a marvelous improvement from #43.

It took about a week after the last SIMAP WU was passed out to get all the caches emptied and the pending credits awarded . .

And I am happy to report that BOINCstats wound up in #20 Team RAC after the May SIMAP King of the Hill Scramble, a great showing considering we were #43.

One week until the June SIMAP King of the Hill Scramble . . . .

Additional new workunits: We have recently imported additional approx. 400.000 new sequences from the database ENSEMBL. Therefore the number of workunits will be much larger than announced on May 30th.

Looks like the Scramble will run a little longer this month. . . .

New Workunits:

The calculation of similarities and features of approx. 300.000 new sequences, that were imported from the databases PDB, GenBank and Uniprot in june 2008, will start in the evening (UTC) of july 1st. Several members of the BOINCSIMAP team will be attending a scientific conference in denmark this week, thus we apologize for possible delays in providing new workunits.

Additionally, we will test a new version of dynamic quotas, making the daily amount of results per host dependent on its average turnaround time. All hosts will start from the same daily quota and average turnaround time. Thus we hope to have a better start of the new batches, without the usual overloading of our servers. Please give us feedback and report problems with the daily quota in our message boards.

Getting "01/07/2008 22:10:10|boincsimap|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 40 results)" on my main cruncher. Seems like they limit the number of WU's per host now.

I'm pretty sure when you finish the work that you have been allocated, another set will be given.

I believe that SIMAP got tired of work dragging on for two weeks after the last WU was sent . . .
