Thanks for the upgrade!

Question: I have a host that is using the alpha boinc client. So I went to check it out. However, the resources displayed are different than those on the Resources page. I haven't changed either yet. Why is that, and which is in control of that client?

Can you clarify this?

When a host specific resources share are set for a project then these take precedence. If not set, the host will use the resource share set in global prefs.

Different values are in the project boxes, host-specific vs Resources page. I can provide screenshots if that helps. But it will have to wait until I get home later today.

If you mean some are zero on the host page while they have a value on the resources page then that is because those projects are not attached.

Here are pictures. You can see that the values for the same project are showing as different. Remember, I have not set host-specific settings yet. These values were "just there" when I took a look at the new page. For example, you can see that Rosetta shows as 35 under Resources, and 40 under the host-specific settings page.

If I have to do a wild guess now (because at this hour I won't start debugging anymore) then I would say this is because when a host is created in the database, it is given the resource shares that are set 'globally'. These were never updated because hosts didn't support their own shares, but the database was ready for it since the beginning.

Now hosts have this feature and I enabled this in BAM!, but the hosts show the original share set from when it was created.

I hope this makes some sense to you .

How can I disable this for a specific host? I want to have my "global" resource share changes applied at this host too.

Norbert

edit: Just setting to 0 for all projects seems to work. Perhaps this should be the default when a host changes to a 5.7.x Boinc version.

No, it does not. Every morning, when I start Boinc, I find the same old shares again at the client. Perhaps Boinc 5.7.2 is not really able to go back from "host specific" to "global" shares. I think, there needs to be some more testing by Rom and Willy until released to the public.
