Yeah, it's about time I create some form of certificate for milestones. Otherwise I get none at all. . .

@Willy - was wondering if your server that hosts BOINCstats crunches projects? Is that possible?

I think the server's CPU is busy enough

@Brian, it's possible, but it would not be a wise thing. The servers are already very busy with serving the site and updating the stats. The answer thus is: no, the servers don't do BOINC.

Come to think of it, the third server (my mail server at home) does run BOINC.

@Willy, Give it a try, I have run BOINC on a very busy server and its impact was unnoticeable. Amazing how it manages to soak up the cpu inbetween disk io, and other overheads etc.

What about RAM? Surely CPDN can't go on a server

A *lot* of posts that I have already read are now marked as unread, and I lost my forum settings. What's up?

I run Boinc on most of our (very busy) servers (about 10). The biggest problem is that occasionally apps crash (i. e. Rosetta) and cause problems. The CPU and RAM stuff pretty much takes care of itself (which is the whole idea of Boinc right?!)

Considering that the 4GB is being fully used and more RAM would be desirable for normal server operations, no matter how small BOINC footprint on memory would be, it would do more harm than good.

Strange. . . Got a WU from Malaria Control running already for 14 hours, 94% complete, 48 min still remaining?! Should I abort it?

BOINC on a server: i fully support boinc, but running it on a server is against every best practice in the book, PCs sure, but i'd never run it on a server
