Feel free to add my project to BOINCstats now that we have a decent name. http://debian.povaddict.com.ar/pov/

I will close account creation once we reach 100 users.

Project should be considered Alpha stage. It has been running good enough to consider it beta stage, but it's not Today I accidentally released workunits that used up 500MB of RAM... But other than a slip now and then everything is running good enough. (and I participate actively on the forums, not like others {gives evil look at VTU's admin})

By the way, I post news often due to the testing nature of the project, and I have the bad tendency to edit news , so it would be better if you don't add the RSS feed to the main page.
Not running BOINC anymore for several reasons...

Sounds good.

Any plan for a new work?
It is good to have work prepared when you invite new members...

I released some work yesterday, but because of an overlook from me (oops!) they were using up to 500MB of ram. I will re-release those workunits fixed now.

So, what exactly do we do when we crunch one of your workunits?

You can see the results on this page. It is updated as soon as a workunit gets assimilated.

We're doing these fractal images as temporary work. Final goal would be to render POV-Ray images, but that's harder to implement. I learned a big lot of things about BOINC making the application and server programs for flam3, so I would have more experience when I start with the "real" app

PS: server is down currently, back in just some minutes.

Sorry but: last minute notice! Project name might change. I think I rushed to ask BOINCstats to add it. Please hold on a bit more, until many users agree with a name.
URL won't change, so maybe you want to start fetching XML stats but keep project hidden, like you do with projects that don't want to be advertised.

It is worth to rename this thread accordingly, I think...

On my AMD Geode MX 1750+ with WinXP the BoincManager (latest version) always crashes if a POB workunit is finished or aborted.
Workunits restart from the beginning if BoincManager is started again - and crash again at the end.
This is an infinite loop blocking all other projects being processed until deleting the project. Deleting only the workunits of POB also would produce a crash.

You may have the old version 5.04 of the flam3-app.
In this case reset the project, it will then download the new 5.05. The error is fixed in this version.
If you have problems with RenderFarm@Home, come to the forum on the site. There is much better help for questions as here.

Yeah, seems to be fixed in 5.05. And if you still get the problem on that application version, please point it out on the project forum. I can't fix a problem I'm not aware of!

By the way, I can't rename the thread, for the same reason nobody can edit his messages after some hours of posting them.

You can.
Just edit the message I just replied to, and you can as well edit the thread title.
(At least that's so on all of the projects boards)

I can't after some hours passed, the Edit link isn't there anymore. And this happens on BOINC projects' forums as well (if they have a recent version of the software, at least).

PovAddict, can you supply a catchy oneliner describing the project?

So that I have something to translate afterwards?

I moved the whole project to another server (no more on home computer with 128kbps upload!). Enjoy the speed! I may enable account creation again...
Not running BOINC anymore for several reasons...
