I doubt DNETC@Home can use them (unless they come back up soon). But distributed.net certainly can make use of the result files if you send them there using the Distributed.net Client. I actually sent most of my pending output buffers to them (and they got accepted and credited) after importing them one by one to the Client.

Well I'm not about to Import 600+ Wu's one by one anywhere ...

Disturbed.net kinda Ticks me off anyway, I have 4 different Accounts there because of changing my user name. Disturbed.net & DNET both know it & know what the Accounts are. Disturbed.net even sent me an e-mail asking me If I wanted the Accounts Combined & I replied yes that would be great. I even sent them another e-mail asking about the combining of the accounts after waiting several months for it to happen. They don't seem to be in any hurry to do anything so why should I do anything for them more than I've done already ...

So... should we just scrap those two projects (and any work still unloaded)? I would think that it's time for some admin to drop two words about this.

I'd just scrap them - especially if they are past the expiry date. I doubt you'll get much joy from the admins at present, they got their hands full, and doubt they are thinking much about WUs right now.

Well, it's just a one for-command but I doubt most people bother (or know what to do anyway). And I do understand that especially since the packets will be redone eventually anyway.

Hmm, I've managed to change my email address with them few times on the past. I remember that quite automatic once you request it on the website. Just have to make sure you don't submit any packets with the old email address anymore. Of course, this might also require that you have an access to the account which is not the case for the @dnetc.net addresses.

Actually, that reminds me that I'd need to change my email again.

All the Accounts were under the same e-mail address but different User Names which to me would seem to make it easier to combine since the e-mail address are the same ...

Doesn't really matter though, I never paid much attention to disturbed.net anyway since it wasn't part of BOINC ,,,

I'm going to try and create a replacement project. We'll see if I can get it working.. (Validation and assimilation are still missing but otherwise it's looking good so far.)

Nothing changed. We still waiting for our server... (Polish police working really slow ). We have to wait 2-3 months maybe more maybe less I can't give a precise date when we back, but I can promise we will back as soon as we get back server or hdds with backups to restore project on other machine.

We should start sending wu's tomorrow afternoon.

I see DNertC is back online.

Androoinc is not, however the url redirects to dnetc.

Attn WILLY !!!!

You need to turn off updates for androinc or you will duplicate stats as it happened on freedc already.

Also see your news feed on your front page as it reports the same news for both projects because of the redirect.

In retrospect, there seems to be something wrong with their XML export, my import script doesn't see updates. Interpreting the log (haven't dug into into, maybe do that later when the weather is colder ) it seems the dates on the files are wrong.

The important thing: stats do not seem to be messed up.

At present it does not appear to be hitting BOINCStats - fortunately - but in many places AndrOINC stats have gone upside down an more. There was an HTML URL redirect to DNETC on the home page of AndrOINC, problem was for many stats facilities it ended up recreating DNETC stats as AndrOINC's in addition to DNETC (on the bottom of the standard BOINC Account Screen it still shows me as DNETC 108m & AndrOINC 108m. I've not crunched a single AndrOINC WU).

Looks like you avoided the hassle, but might be wise to be wary, as its still out there in other places even with the URL redirect taken down yesterday.

Hopefully it will play through in a couple of days, however there is still potential for the "rash" to break out again

It was a problem for BAM!. Attaching to Android actually attached to DNETC (because of the URL redirect). The BOINC client then produces an error when DNETC is already attached.

Willy

Take a look at this post I made on DNETC .... I am no where the Networking level you are .....

Duplicate IP & Stats AndrOINC/DNETC

would you go with that logic ? It seems to me it nails the Androinc/ DNETC issue re duplications if I am right, but I dont have your experience to verify the logic. (Sesef deleted the Redirect a couple of days ago, so it should not be in play at all to cause this)

Problem is its based on a premis that is theoretically impossible - two sites being allocated the same IP. If I am right, and I *think* I am, then the solution re duplications is there for grabs for BOINC and for Stats Sites. It also potentially opens a large pandora's box as to why the same IP has been allocated to two different sites, a theoretically impossible occurance (without a live redirect in place).

The solution to kill this off is therefor get the Registrar or ISP to allocate a different IP to AndrOINC and release the original back into the pool. End of DNS translation problem, and if a rogue redirect is still out there, a new IP would render it useless.

Thoughts ..... ??

Short on time now, didn't read your post there, but it's certainly possible to have multiple sites behind a single IP address.

Behind an IP address - for sure, thats whats at the root of NAT / LANs etc. In this case it seems like two IPs allocated to the same site at Registrar level. In any even, an IP change for AndrOINC should kill all this off.

One server with one IP address (no need for it to NAT) can host hundreds of websites. The different sites are recognized by the server by the domain name. This works perfectly until the webserver (for example Apache) config files are messed up.

Take a look at Moo!Wrapper or DNETC while you wait (and that could be a long time ..), basicly all three are crunching the same tasks - as such. Personally I like Moo!Wrapper better at present as the app is more stable. But give both a whirl see what works for you

AndrOINC is something completely different from DNETC@Home and Moo! Wrapper and shouldn't be lumped together with either one. Granted, it's run by the same people that run DNETC@Home but that's where the similarities pretty much end.

As for just waiting for new jobs, you should take a look of either of these two projects or any of the various wonderful projects mentioned on this site. Wasting crunch power is one of the saddest thing known to me.
