I am sorry to inform You, that the projects will be unavailable for difficult to predict time, for reasons beyond their administrators.

Do you have any idea on how long they will be down and if the admins of projects will notify anyone of the problems.

NO

and if the admins of projects will notify anyone of the problems.

This happened here.

For personal reasons, administrators of the project can not provide more detailed information.

If They choose to provide additional information, I will inform You in this thread.

For personal Reasons ... lol ... Really Lame if that's the Projects Position/Attitude ... ... It only takes 60 Seconds to Post a brief Note here at BOINCStats to let the Participants know whats going on ...

It's not about the ability of Posting.

Now I can not disclose more information due to the legal situation in which administrators found themselves.

Believe me there is nothing funny about this situation.

Administrators respect the users. But for now, nothing more can be disclosed.

Server is evidence in the investigation of p2p (I know it's ridiculous). Someone thought that we had a torrent tracker on the server. Now police are looking for pirated Windows ect between DNETC workunits.

As soon as we get our server back project will back online.

I had been wondering why distributed.net's rate to completion skyrocketed(138K days) and seeing dnetc@home being down and the reason why might lead me to think it's a possiblity of ending RC5-72. I seriously doubt that would be the case since I haven't been in distributed's irc forum for awhile(just really wonder what their thoughts are about this)

With one of my computer 'hats' I do computer forensics. A forensics imaging of a server can be a fairly time consuming process -- typically a LOT of data to image and typically one is working with a source configured in a RAID array of some form.

That being said, it forensically image say 1 to 2 terrabytes shouldn't take more than a couple of days run time.

After the image is completed, the server should be available for release (unless of course there are other legal impediments to the release).

Sounds like they need one of these:
Hard drive duplicator

In the US you may not get your property back until the case is closed (days/weeks/months). DNS points to NLD though; don't know how they operate. All depends on resources/cooperation to complete the investigation.

Not Positive but I think so, that or the 2 Servers were housed together ...

What kind of server is required for these projects. I used to run a dedicated server or two in the London Docklands. I wish i still did, is there anything super special about the DNETc or any other BOINC app that requires something special...?

This seems to take longer so i think it's save to say that those don't really matter anymore. At least that's what i think and i aborted the pending uploads and will delete the jobs.

I still haven't deleted the 600 or so I have finished & waiting to Upload but would like to get rid of them. I'll probably Abort them in a few days since they've all expired already ...

Okay, that could explain why the server was seized. AndrOINC-project can certainly be seen as questionable legal wise.

I wouldn't except a speedy return of the server since if it contains illegal material (like the police/court seems to think so) why would that illegal material be returned? And legal battle over verifying that can take years.

I doubt DNETC@Home can use them (unless they come back up soon). But distributed.net certainly can make use of the result files if you send them there using the Distributed.net Client. I actually sent most of my pending output buffers to them (and they got accepted and credited) after importing them one by one to the Client.

I think biggest problems would be to create the wrapper between BOINC Client and Distributed.net Client and on server side the communication layer between Personal Proxy and BOINC Project Server (incl. validation). Especially since I don't think those were open sourced by DNETC@Home.

Otherwise it's just about running a BOINC Project Server and a Distributed.net Personal Proxy.

I was thinking of creating a new project to take over for now because I already have a working wrapper for myself. Maybe even make use of the BOINCproject service offered by BOINCstats to host the project server. Only thing left would be to code/script the server functionality.

If only I would know how long the hiatus lasts and if such a "replacement" project would be accepted by different parties involved..
