My personal background
Hi!
My name is Alex, and in my apprenticeship for electronics a workmate showed me the seti@home-project.

Before, I only recognized SETI because of the movie "Independence Day" and the Coca-Cola-Commercials, and I thought, the whole thing was only fiction, but he proved the opposite to me.

As the standalone-application SETI@HOME was integrated into BOINC (which was stressing to me in the beginning ), I discovered other interesting projects and participated either.

In my free-time I read much about science, technology and research (mostly in Wikipedia and P.M.), so it´s no question to me to participate in BOINC, because it´s free and so I can do something good for mankind.

Mein Name ist Alex, und während meiner Ausbildung zum Industrieelektroniker hat mich ein Ausbildungskollege auf das SETI-Projekt aufmerksam gemacht.

Ich kannte das Projekt vorher nur aus dem Film "Independence Day" und aus der Coca-Cola-Werbung, und dachte, das ganze wäre nur fiktiv, doch er hat mir das Gegenteil bewiesen.

Nachdem die Standalone-Anwendung SETI@HOME in BOINC integriert wurde (was mir zunächst ein paar Probleme bereitete), stieß ich auf andere interessante Projekte, und meldete mich dort ebenfalls an.

Da ich mich allgemein in meiner Freizeit für Wissenschaft, Technik und Forschung interessiere (begeisterter Wikipedia- und P.M.-Leser), ist es für mich keine Frage, bei BOINC mitzuhelfen, denn schließlich ist die Teilnahme kostenlos, und so kann ich allen Menschen etwas gutes tun.

Opinion about BOINCstats/BAM!
Because I can administrate and keep a watch on my projects with BAM! easily (some Computer I see very rare in RL), and I can compare my contibutions with other users.

I like it, because I quickly find here, what I´m looking for.

Weil ich über BAM! meine Projekte verwalten und überblicken kann (einige Rechner sehe ich in RL selten), und meinen Beitrag mit anderen vergleichen kann.

Ich finde es recht gut, denn hier findet man schnell das, was man sucht.
