My personal background
Retired Computer Technician. I ran my own business from a home office for for over 20 years. I experienced the phenomenal growth of the PC industry between 2005 and 2016, until PC sales started to rapidly decline. Phones and tablets became so popular that PC Desktops sales took a nosedive. Laptops/Notebooks remained popular for a while longer then started to decline as well.
During my 20+ years I personally built over 500 Desktop computers for Home/SoHo/SMB's

I have 15 "hosts" in my BOINC Pool, made up of old unsaleable PC's and laptops that were either traded in or donated back to me. They run a mix of WattOS, Linux Mint, and Windoze 11.
I suppose that even though 13 of the PC's are old, every little bit helps....
