tonight I received strange problem First, my IE started to show, that most websites are not available, second my Outlook can't send and receive any emails and BOINC not connecting to projects. But Skype working and also, Internet radio playing.

I restarted my router, but no luck. Also, I connected with my ISP and they said, that here are no problems from they side.

Then I noticed, that after computer's restart or only Log off / Log on all internet issues gone for several hours.

I checked dns servers, tried to add new LAN card, scaned for viruses, but no luck.

And then accidenty I shut down BOINC. What a crazy thing - all services (IE, Outlook) started to work again. Maybe coincidence? I tried this way on second my computer and Internet connection is OK on it again.

Also, my girlfirend received this problem, she also has BOINC running. Her neighbor on same router and without BOINC has perfect connection on same time.

All operating systems are XP. Where is the problem? It is very strange, because of 2 year running BOINC never had any problems in this side.

I found problem.

This is WUProp@home problem:

Bug in version 2.36 for Windows
There is a bug in the version 2.36 for Windows.
The application slows down or blocks the network.
You should abort the workunit if you run this version.

Thank you aurimas_rapecka for posting the issue and the solution. I've been seeing the same problem and did not figure out the cause. I knew it was Boinc related because I could exit Boinc Manager and start it back up and the internet connection would be fixed for a few hours.

I woke this morning to see that my hosts now have version 2.37 of WUProp running without me having done anything, so at the least the problem sorts itself out. Useful to know for those with remote hosts.

It was actually posted on the Front Page here early yesterday although I didn't see it myself either. Somebody had to tell me about it at the PGrid Project before I got my Box's straightened out by shutting down wuprop. I'm running it again with the newer app and everything seems okay now ...
