Hello!

I've got an isnteresting problem. I'm running BIOINC on two computers. On one of them the Windows has crashed (svchost.exe stopped), and I saw an error message in the BIONIC Manager. I restarted the coputer but since then i can't use the program on that machnie because it is always trying to connect to localhost. It sometimes sucseeds (usually when I press attach to project), but after a second it clears all projects, repost connection failed, an then conneting to localhost again.... I tried to reinstall--> no use.

Has anybody have any idea what the problem might be?

I had the same problem on 1 Box last night, I ended up deleting all the Slot Directories in the BOINC Directory to fix it. What happens sometimes is 1 or more Wu's have crashed and are stuck in 1 or more of the Slots and the BOINC Manager gets Confused or just can't connect until those slots are Deleted. Something like that anyway is happening from my past experiences with that problem.

I had this and so I upgraded to the beta version. Seems to work fine now, well this issue's gone anyway

Thanks for the advice! I deleted all directories in the slots dir, but it was no use first. Then I cleaned the whole BIONIC dir and it solved the problem. My current tasks are gone but it work at least and my credits were not lost.
THX again!

To avoid that problem in the future, check that your work-unit cache is set so that BOINC doesn't download more than, say, 1000 tasks. Otherwise, the conversation between BOINC manager and client gets too time-consuming (at least with some 6.6.x versions).

It can happen with a lower Cache setting too, I usually never carry more than 300-400 Wu's Per Box & have it happen to me every so often ...

I used default settings so I haven't bothered with cache settings. It works perfectly since then.
