I have problems with some projects, I get the error in the title when running on Ubuntu 9.04. I think it might be that something is not writable, but I do not know how to check it. It happens with Spinhenge, Einstein, and GPUGrid, and may happen with others that I am unaware of. Does anyone else know about this problem?

The message "output file * absent" in your log can mean anything.
Important are the result files. Go check in every project the task id of the WU and what the error log there says.
I'm guessing you're missing some libraries which you have to install.

This is the message that is in the failed workunits.

In Einstein@Home, this message appears in some:

Can anyone provide a little help, I am not sure how to fix this problem on my own, and no matter how many times I search, I can't find much info on this error.

When does it happen ??? as soon as the Wu starts or sometime into the Wu ??? Have you installed the ia32-lib packages from the Synaptic Package Manager ???

With Spinhenge it is usually right when it starts, with Einstein it is sometime after it starts, the time varies. I ran

aptitude install ia32-libs, but I am not sure if that is all of them that I need.

Well it appears to be fixed now, I installed the ia32-libs and it seems to be running alright, no errors so far, we will see.

That's the main reason most people have problems with Linux & BOINC, hope it continues to work for you ...
