Hello everybody,

Here I am to ask something about the configuration of BOINC.

I have a computer with a quad-core Processor (AMD Phenom 9600). 4 projects are running in the same time.

In my project list i have CPDN... and i wish i can make it always computing to end WU faster.

I found a way to switch each ... minutes between application but is there a way to make one permanent and switch regularly the three other ones ?

Thanks for your answers...

As you have 4 CPUs you have to allocate 25% of the ressource share to CPDN and divide the rest somehow on the other 75%.
In case of 6 projects that would be for example:
CPDN: 25
Project a: 20
Project b: 20
Project c: 15
Project d: 10
Project e: 10

This shozld work over the time, not necessary at every day exacrly, but over all that's how it works with me.

Thanks for the answer...

So there is no other solution ? I've put 33% ressources on CPDN and equally split the other 77% between other project but if i stop the automatic switch between project, some of them won't often computing... And my wish is to have a constant progression in each project...

So if someone have an other idea, i'll listen to it !

BOINC currently does not support assigning cores to projects - maybe this will come. currently you can achieve something like that by setting "switch between projects" higher than the longest WUs you run. the only way to really get what you want, currently is to run several virtual machines each running a single project. but that would cost you overall performance and takes some knowledge to set up properly..

OK so I'll wait for the next gen BOINC to assign project to cores...

Thanks a lot for explanations.

Just set the CPDN Project to a 1000 Resource Share & the other Projects to a 10 Resource Share & the CPDN Project should run most if not all of the Time. Probably best to set CPDN to No New Work before doing that or it may give you more work than you want. You can always get more as you need it ...
