I have stumbled over the bonicstats website quite by accident and it certainly looks interesting; however, I am unable to find any information that actually explains what BONIC is. So... Could any one explain to me, in a nutshell, what BONIC is?

BOINC, or Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing is a middleware for the management of projects in distributed computing.

With lots of interesting and useful scientific projects ordinary people can run on their home computers using the boinc platform. This stats site helps members keep track of how much they've contributed. Anyone can join, you just need to be generous.

http://www.setiusa.net/join also has a list of projects you can run on your computer, as well as a brief description of each. This list is not up to date, but dose include projects that are not found on Berkeley’s site, and also has a better description of the projects without actually going to the site.

I hope you can find a project to your liking! It defently can become intertaining.
