I tried to find information about this but couldn't find anything.
But I do understand. I started BOINCstats in 2004, and it has dominated a significant part of my life ever since. A huge amount of programming work has gone into it; over time, it has run on shared hosting, on my own hardware, the Google Cloud Platform, and now back on dedicated virtual servers. That involves a lot of server management: making sure everything is secure, and replacing broken or outdated hardware. And it also needs to be paid for, but fortunately, the community has contributed significantly to that, for which I am very grateful.
And every single day since 2004, I check whether the daily updates were successful. Every day, 7,739 days now and counting. And quickly fixing it when something fails. And almost every day, I check the forum to see if there are users with issues that need resolving.
I don't know the circumstances of James, but I perfectly understand that a moment comes when you think, enough is enough.
