I would've thought BOINC, being a Tech/Science/University program and developed by such, would be more up to date, technology wise. BOINC reminds me of my first programming classes (back in 1982)! The look and feel of it seems so 80's. The utter lack of a Help Section, the chaos of trying to figure out why my CPID (3 of them) are different (error:CPID malformed) on a few projects, email doesn't match or no such user because Gridcoin/GRC Pool put their name in the owner/user and I don't get GRC for projects that are not listed as the user: Gridcoin.... I've spent hours reading forums and there are a few answers that are consistent and none have worked.... BOINCStats shows a set of projects, FreeDC a different set, etc.... I just would've thought everything would be a lot more seamless and BOINC would've setup some kind of standards for ALL Clients/Projects/Stats to implement to make Boinc a more enjoyable venture....

Because the software is open source. BOINC does not dictate how the projects run things. BOINC does not dictate the independent stats sites that can include or exclude anything they want. BOINC is intended to be open and versatile so that anyone can use it as their needs deem fitting. Gridcoin is also an entity outside of BOINC that just happens to reward users for using it. That is their niche in the ocean of crypto. So, nothing about your Gridcoin experience is the fault of BOINC but rather the way the pools handles things. It isn't the responsibility of the BOINC devs to make the Gridcoin experience better.

As far as the Help Section. I agree. That is lacking but again, it is typically done through volunteers. Feel free to volunteer and make it better. As far as you feeling it is stuck in the 80's. I have a feeling it is more like the 90's for the cosmetic aspect. You can always make a different GUI for the manager if you feel so inclined. However, the current one suffices quite well as it is.

In fact, I'd appreciate some functions that Boinc itself doesn't feature.
Those desired functions would include a lot of settings that for now you can only get done through scribbling in various xml files, and I'd also like to have included some possibility to adjust the amount of work per project that the client asks the servers for. Some sort of 'doing a race on project x' button would be nice as well to just pause other software. And having all those settings and buttons accessible through a project manager would be friggin' awesome!
While doing things by way of xml files surely feels like 90's (e.g. if you ask for my Atari 16/32 experiences when setting up networking and internet through a NIC) I really like the simple overall look and feel of the expert skin.
Personally, I'm not too fond of all this nice-looking modern stuff which spawns everywhere in applications and on the web.
