Strange things seem to be happening on my computer since I signed up with the latest BOINC projects. The main issue I am having is new projects just start on my computer, without asking me for permission. The latest was MLC@home. MLC downloaded a bunch of tasks and started processing them. Again, this was done without any description of what is going on and without my permission. These tasks then run, but never seem to get reported to BOINC STATS. Are these ligament projects or some kind of scam? Until I learn what is going on, I am deleting and suspending them.

If I don't hear something about the safety of World Community Grid, Citizen Science Grid, and MLC@home within the the next day or so, I will assume the worse and delete these projects completely from my system. I would rather be safe than sorry!

You can DELETE Citizen Science Grid as it as an abandoned project (no new work) and and no one (admin / scientist) posting or replying to forum posts for over 2 years now. Warning the projects forums are a spam haven.

WCG (Hosted / Run by IBM) and MLC are both SAFE and well run projects.

... Going back to your original post about being auto joined to these three projects.
Do you use an ACCOUNT MANAGER SUCH AS BAM! or Science United?
I have seen or never head of BAM! doing that.
Science United's account manager automatically assign projects to your computer.
