Hi,

I wonder if there is a way to shutdown the pc automatically if the work is done?

My situation is, my pc is very loud and I want to put it in the basement, because there is a power connection. The problem is, there is no wifi or corded internet. So a nice thing would be to shutdown the pc if the work is done. An other nice thing would be to load work for more than 7 days, is this possible, too?

Thanks in advice

Well, if your power drivers are properly installed, you should be able to just set your power settings in Windows to hibernate. When there's no work, it should hibernate. However, BOINC running is not always properly detected and sometimes it'll hibernate anyways.

You could set work to 7 days x 24 hours/day = 168 hours. Whether you'll actually get 7 days of work might be stretching it kind of far. Projects may likely cut you off regardless of what you set.

However, what's the point? Every 7 days you move the computer back upstairs? Better to get a good router to beam into the basement. Depending on where your internet connection hooks up (and if your modem is a router itself) a 2nd router to relay (bridge) the signal. Get a good router, don't get a cheap one, and be sure to check the reviews. I'd beware what a big box store rep tells you that you need. Amazon is a good source of user reviews.

Best,
