If only the Italian government would take note of how investing money in research ( all branches of science and technology ), as the Spanish government is, the country ( Italy, that is ) wouldn't have a public deficit higher than the sum of those of all other European countries put together. I personally saw the entire episode of " SuperQuark " in question, and Piero Angela ( the host of the programme ) tries to get this point across to the viewers. The PS3GRID was featured because the idea and the software were developed by an Italian scientist working in Spain at the BBRP.

IMHO, it's an absolute disgrace that some really great Italian minds have to move to other countries ( the US, UK, Eire, Spain, Canada,etc (even the ex Soviet Bloc) ) to be able to work properly and have the resources necessary to realise their ideas.

I'm a Brit. living in Italy, so that gives me a reasonably objective view of these things and believe me, this country is run by the Mafia hidden under many different guises.

Enough!

People who've been to scientific conferences in Italy have told me that the conference was chaos and the food was fabulous.
