Since last week (before the DB changes) MySQL started having serious problems when the updated stats are moved from the DB to the WWW server. During the move of certain tables MySQL becomes completely unresponsive. This wasn't like this before, and the configuration of the server or the software wasn't changed. I think I saw Murphy walking by though.

So, several times a day the website seems down as nothing happens, even though the server is very much alive. It's only MySQL that is dead.

I have ideas for a fix (which don't mean the idea will fix it) but I need time to test and implement it, and guess what: the next time I'll have a whole day to do this is over 10 days.

Please be patient as long as this (very irritating) problem persists.

It appears to be a bug in the MySQL engine, which should be solved in a future update. I guess we have to sit this one out.
