BOINCstats is linked from the popular computer gossip site The Inquirer. They found the new AMD Barcelona processor in the SETI@Home Host list and based on the list they decided it smokes the Intel competition.

Guess we wait for that CPU the be released before we buy the components for the new BOINCstats server.

The article is here.

Those two machines were added back in October and November of 2006. Are we sure they are the hot new chips? That's an awful long time ago. It may just be that they are some engineering samples with similar ID data. And that list is just the average of the RAC with similar CPU ID data. So with two machines it is fairly easy to have a high score. When you have hundreds or thousands, the averages of the part-time, or multi-project crunchers pulls it way down. Frankly, a RAC of 1498 for SETI is not that great. The #1 machine is making 6800+ RAC. That is 3400 per quad chip to compare apples (heh) to apples.
