I wanted to move the BOINCstats code to jQuery and enhance some pages with better menus and tabs and stuff. But to my surprise nearly 15% of the visitors has JavaScript turned off which means I have to program everything twice, once with and once without JS.

Just wondering (and this question goes to the JS-disablers): why do you have it turned off, in particular on this website?

I have JS turned off by default with the plug-in NoScript. I allow only trusted sites to run them all, usually I only give temporarily permission. BOINCstats though is on the "permanent permission" list.

Many Firefox users are installing NoScript, it is great for the feeling of security it induce. Of course it may be just an illusion and the added clicks we must do to authorize new sites is most likely a waste of time. Yet I will not hit a new site without enabling NoScript!

There is no need to recode everything, just you have to display a message like "To use this site you need Javascript enabled." when the browser does not run the scripts.

It's all a matter of locations. When I visit your site between 9:00 and 17:00 I'm in the office and there scripting is disabled for the internet zone. Only the zones local intranet and trusted sites are enabled for scripting. At home the domain boincstats.com is added to the trusted sites, so if I'm oline between 17:00 and 9:00 or at weekends, scripting will be turned on.
