How do i change the name of my account? I want to have my signature/"Detailed stats for....." to have a different name displayed that what is currently there

It'll show whatever your username is. If you want to change it then you need to change your username on each project. Simply edit the data on 'Main account page' in BAM! or (if not using BAM!) go to each of your project pages and change the name on each site individually.

How long ago did you change it? Each of the projects will need to export/update their XML before BOINCstats will see it (it is different from BAM!). And you might see multiple user names for a while.

Hi Ephraim,

As MacDitch said, BOINCstats uses the user name(s) corresponding to the unique email under which you are registered on each project.

At the time I'm writing this, at least one of your projects, LHC@home, still has your old user name, and so your BOINCstats combined stats is now listing you under both names.

Apparently the algorithm to choose which name to display in the signature boxes does not use the most recently changed name, which is why it is still showing as the old name.

Once all of your projects have updated their xml stats to the new name, and once BOINCstats has updated itself form those updated xmls, your signature name should automatically change.

Depending on the timing of each of these updates, you can see that this might take a day or two to finish with all your projects. Obviously, we'd all like instant updates of all project and stats sites, but the server load would be unacceptable...

I whet to LHC and there is still a dicrepency in the name

Oh Yeah, I Just Remembered(TM):

LHC has not exported stats data for some time, and won't again until the new admins are in place (hopefully soon). I guess this would include account name changes? ( LHC does have your new name on their site; but since they aren't exporting, there's no way Willy can get it.)

One solution might be to use individual project sigs until LHC export resumes, for example:


If you use these for your top two or three projects, they won't take much more space than the combined sig.

You might also temporarily use another sig site, like mundayweb; its boxes are based on entering the individual project IDs.

But I stress that this is not the fault of BOINCstats, Willy's method makes configuring the sigs much easier, and it's just unfortunate that you are caught in a situation where your name change can't be propagated...
