See the names in my team, and you'll see what I mean.

These are the three last characters in the norwegian/danish alphabet. (If I write them here, they'll probably be garbled up)

See this Wikipedia article for better visibility. In HTML, use this table for reference of replacement codes.

Hello Prognatus,

the issue with non-english characters in the names of the projects, and the handling of them in the xml-export files is a known bug on the project side. It's an annoyance for us, who have some of them in our language, but I think it's even more annoying for those with a totally different alphabet.

I had my 'real' nick (Sänger) in all projects, and the handling was different even between them:
Seti made one &#xxx; of my 'ä', Einstein 2, and CPDN managed to et them straight. So I decided to switch to 'ae', not fine, but OK for an international project.
I hope they will fix this, and will force another, homogenous, broad character norm for all projects, but until then, I'll have to live with either messes or restricted sets.

Look in this thread as well:

Sänger, the problem that your refering to is valid, but you must consider that even though all the projects listed and the ones that arent are either busy with the science and not the users character sets. I do believe that an International Set should be incorporated into the mainstream. I am here in Poland and its a problem with many people here. Although I do see the "want" for this...I do not see the "need" for this. Change takes time...and time is sometimes a commodity. In that I would like to say, I think everyone should adhere to an International set, but for the time being let them see the posts, the comments, and the suggestions and let them realize the folly of there discriminating US(version) of the Character set.
Thanks.....my 2 cents
Bishop

By the way here is something that the sites might like to look at:
http://www.fjordaan.uklinux.net/entities/e...es_support.html

They could incorporate it as a standard.

Works fine!

Look at a user in my team. At least for Einstein@Home you simple have to change the name of the user to something containing ä or similar. Then _this_ page contains the correct characters.

Another thing is the danish site at www.boinc.dk which rapes such characters different in the graphics and in the test part.

But willy does it well!

BTW: How shall willy find out what character set _you_ used when entering the nick? It is an international project and there are countries which use characters very different, sometimes even funny, in our eyes. No chance. But the html-encoing should work.

I really hope it's not a high priority issue atm, as the inclusion of more projects, with new problems to solve on the science programming is of a far higher value imho. But in the future, when everything is smooth, it would be a very nice feature to use a nick in your own Charset.

If I have to wait for this future some weeks or some years, I could not care less
