Hello - This is something that has never happened in all the years I have been doing this and using BOINCstats:

BOINC combined 4,625,348,011

FreeDC reads my total as 5,332,066,174

...this change just occurred today (9/24).

What happened? Could someone please have a look and see what might have caused this? It did not appear that there were others in the rankings that had this happen to them.

I know Gerasim is all buggered-up right now - could that have something to do with it? Why would FreeDC still have the (what I assume to be) the correct total? For a long time now both BOINCStats and FreeDC have been pretty much the same (within a few thousand credits)?

I would really appreciate a moment or two of someones' time to look into this for me...I normally would not say anything but 700m+ credits? That sounds like a flub someplace...I am checking though the logs that I can to see if there is anything related.

Thank you, m0laki

I have that problem too. And it is exactly the amount of credit for Gerasim@Home that is missing.
The site has been unresponsive for a while.
Last week I tried it again, and I got the login page, but was not able to login.
The responds was, that my credentials were incorrect (??)
Right now the site again does not respond.

Yes it's obviously related to the GERASIM CRASH!
Yesterday I lost 5,396,541 credits here on Gerasim but not on Free-DC.
Obviously the "protection script" Willy has previously used to prevent such catastrophic credit losses didn't work.
Overall a total of 37,999,977,848 credit was wiped out on Gerasim for everyone.

For anyone that wants to follow along with the GERASIM f*ck-up here is a link at the NumberFields@home project where there is ANGRY PEOPLE telling SerVal (Gerasim admin) HE77 for running the project mostly on a RAM DISK!

Thank you for letting us know! Like most of the community of crunchers I contribute WU's to lots of projects and have for years - I know this is all for charity and a hobby so when things happen I do not get (too) upset about it - but that is a lot of credit to lose. I will check out the link and I can only hope it is rectified somehow.

In any case I would like to say how much I DO APPRECIATE BoincStats - Please Keep Doing This for Us!! I will be sending more money to BS to make sure they can keep the stie off a RAM disk!!

Warm Regards, m0laki (Rob).

The safety measure to prevent the loss of large amounts of credits, likely caused by an issue with a project, has indeed disappeared during one of the optimisations I performed over the years.

I have recreated this. If a project loses 10% of its credits, the export is ignored until the project recovers beyond that 10% loss. So, if a project is unable to correct its data, it may still eventually lead to a loss of credits, but at some point, we will have to resume importing.

For Gerasim, I re-imported an export from before the crash, which has restored the credits, but the dips from the past few days will still be visible in the graphs for some time.
Please do not PM, IM or email me for support (they will go unread/ignored). Use the forum for support.

Thank you Willy for replying and taking the time to fix the credit.
The dip in the credit listings & graphs we can live with.

Fantastic! Much appreciated! There will forever be an asterisk on that day.

We can only hope that other project SysOps have their backups/recovery in-place to prevent these types of flubs.

Thanks again Willy!
