It would be a neat feature to help prompte BOINC (and BoincStats) to have the system make a Tweet on your behalf when you automatically complete a Work Unit for a project...

so... I'd share my Twitter login details with BoincStats and when it sees that I've complete a work unit for (say) the World Community Grid it would post on my behalf "just completed my 1202nd work unit for the World Community Grid http://boincstats.com/wgc" or similar. The URLs would probably need to go via TinyURL to make sure they can go to an appropriate entry page here but still fit in the 140 characters

maybe - just maybe - an idea for projects with ultra-long WUs like ORBIT.

you can imagine what would have happened during the last PrimeGrid challenge with 3.3 million WUs in 2 days?

i would have received over 12k hurray-mails..

Also:
Such events are not tracked here at the various stats sites, just at the projects themself.
At the stats sites the only possible event that could be made public with a big hurray are credit milestones.

Still, it would be interesting to generate a Tweet after, say, the daily update is complete with some stats like "You gained xx,xxx.xxx BOINC credits today"

1. a tweet on the Twitter page of BOINCstats
   
2. a tweet on your own page, as if you posted it yourself (for this your Twitter password needs to be stored by BOINCstats)
   
3. or a direct message to your account send by BOINCstats
   

For all of them BS needs to store your Twitter account name.

BOINCstats now tweets when the daily (host) update completes. You can follow it on BOINCstats' Twitter page.

How about we start with a notification when a client is idle? Sometimes I need to 'prompt' my box(es) to get new WU's and It would be nice to know sooner than later!

I'm also working on a MSN bot. At the moment all you can do with it is add it to your contact list and hook it up to your BAM! account.

Ideas on how to make it useful are very welcome.

I think I'd choose option #3 from your options earlier (or a direct message to your account send by BOINCstats). Just a quick: You earned xxxx,xx credits on MM/DD/YYYY. I think it might stimulate some questions and drive a few people to find out about BOINC.
