I believe many noobs and lurkers don't realize that BOINCstats not only tracks the projects, reports relevant news and keep stats on all members and teams, but it also contains a lively forum and a competition team.

Hotlinks in the shoutbox would also be helpful to direct those not comfortable with c'nping links to interesting, relevant information.

I'd agree with this. Sort of. The forums here seem remarkably unused. In fact, they are almost invisible to a casual user. Why not make the forums link more prominent and perhaps have a (small!) 'latest topics' box with links to the most recent posts?

Let's get more traffic into the forums and keep it out of the shoutbox



That would be a disaster - The shoutbox would fill up with numerous "check this out" links of marginal/no interest to the majority of the membership. Been there, done that on other sites Also a magnet to spammers, so can't agree with you on this one

Embedded videos add interest to a message board.

Perhaps an option to add links to forum topics would be interesting, but you should only allow links to BOINCStats pages. You could even add an option to attach a forum topic to a shout, so an icon appears with a link to the topic. I think this would take care of both your concerns.

I think there are too few BOINC related video's for this feature. It would only be interesting for the café/interesting things on the web, and for those few boinc-related video's you could simply add a link to it.

That would work just fine, I believe that many lurkers and those who come here to check their stats don't ever get to the BOINCstats forum.

how about a section for hardtec-support - i t occured to me that several members hardly know what they are doing to/with their hosts?

Embedded video (YouTube to be exact) is amongst the new features of the soon to be released new BOINCstats website framework. Is there a need to embed other videosites?

Hopefully the project scientists and administrators will use online videos to promote and explain their projects more in the future.

There's no need to embed *any* video sites. If I want to watch a YouTube vid, I'll go there. Post a link. And a synopsis. Sorted.

Please don't fill the forums up with junk video links.

Let's be honest, there aren't very many videos that actually relate to BOINC projects, and absolutely none that relate to stats sites. This is just going to be a spam/hijack magnet. I've seen the Rosetta link so many times that I'm sick of it.
