How do you use this in the sig? I tried the top left color and got red, I tried all zeros and got black.

When using the colour on the top left of your image for the whole picture then ist should have the color of your background.

Oh, I was trying to use tansparent for the background without an image.

What's the alternative name good for?

Will is replace all names? 'Til now if you had different names in different projects, you had to live with a long sig with all names. can I change my names in the projects and keep my sig short?

I think you can. But the change will be valid only for the signatures. On your detailed overall stats, and because of that in the search, you will be seen with the long name

I suggest changing signature filename from “user_banner_bamX” to, for example, “user_wide_bamX” because 99% of ad blockers kill images with “banner” in their path.

AFAIK, there is no “global transition” needed. For compatibility, you can just add server-side or client-side redirection from old name to the new one, and use new name as default on the signature options page.
