According to the FAQ:

"When you join a new project, this project assigns you a new CPID. This CPID can either change to the same CPID as the other projects, or the other projects change (one by one) to the new CPID."

What determines which happens?

And maybe along the same lines as the question above, what is the process through which the CPID's are updated? Mechanically, what happens?

And finally, this question: In my BOINCstats host list, should the BOINC Cross Project IDentifier be the same for all of my hosts, and should it be the same for all of my projects?

Thanks!

Obviously not! How could it be an identifier if it were the same for all your hosts?

Your problem is that you are mixing up host CPIDs and account CPIDs. And the problem of the newer BOINC clients is that they seem to change the host CPID when the host connects from a different network (IP address).

Yes, maybe not "mixing them up" as much as trying to understand how they function and how they're related to each other.

Is there some sort of comprehensive explanation on how BOINC manages CPID's? I've looked around quite a bit with no success.

Can anyone point me to some resources that are more detailed than the FAQ?

A few more details I found at the BOINC wiki.

That was helpful Gundolf. I never came across that page in my search for information.

Thank you!

Be careful what you learn about CPIDs; much of it is black magic.
