I reinstall my ubuntu box and as in object i encounter that problem. Now i have i BAM account 1 PC and 2 host ids. Unfortunatelly When i connect to BAM trough boinc manager Bam bind with the new(erratic) host id instead of my old host id. I try to put my email instead of user name in BAM's logon(from boinc manage but not clue. What can i do?

From boinc manager messages tab. As you can see is in use the new(incorrect )BAM! Host-ID: 223351 insteam my old (206111 harrysas 6.10.36 2010-05-11 / 14:05:56 192)

Thu 13 May 2010 10:22:12 AM CEST Account manager: BAM! User-ID: 80572
Thu 13 May 2010 10:22:12 AM CEST Account manager: BAM! Host-ID: 223351
Thu 13 May 2010 10:22:12 AM CEST Account manager: Number of BAM! connections: 4
Thu 13 May 2010 10:22:12 AM CEST Account manager contact succeeded

PS: Moreover I notice a regression in boinc's versioning that's normal?

moreover i notice that the new hostid is bind with a different cpid . So in "main account page" my CPID is : 35ef7203ffb15afac069f6f732529a29as was in precedence and that is correct. but in http://boincstats.boincstats.com/bam/account_host.php?host_id=223351 the new host id page cpid is : BOINC Cross Project IDentifier 2f82e62dbdb731af697feb338d8302a2

There are different kinds of CPIDs: for accounts and for hosts (maybe for teams too).

Thank you. Here the problem is what's the workaround, procedure etc i can do to return to my old host-id--cpid bind trough boinc manager ? and possibly discard in some way the new automatically created hostid--cpid.

Did you try merging the duplicates at the respective project site(s)?

someone in boincitaly team talk me about a possible merging and i try it actually.

Procedure:
my boinc manager(after boinc reinstall) is automatically connected to new BAM's host-id ok. Now i subscribe(trough bm's Tools>Attach to project) not all but 2-3 projects of my old hostid and i leave bm to work for 12-24 hours in the hop that BAM automagically merge ids.

I report procedure results here. I hope well

I think you'll have to go to the computer details page at one of your projects where you have duplicate host entries (I found this at CPDN) and use the merge link there, though I didn't find one looking at my own host entry at CPDN. But that's the place where you do it at other projects.

How should it do this?
CPIDs are created and handled by the projects and only by the projects, BAM! doesn't do anything in this regard.
I only seems to be the case that the projects sometimes mistake the same computer for a new one once he's connected to BAM!, or once it's BOINC is updated, or for other reasons. Only way to get rid of this: Go to each projects account page and either merge or delete obsolete hosts.

Tnx for your reply Saenger. Good to know all that you say. All i know about that stuff is:
1. i have only one PC and after reinstalling boinc and reconnected to BAM i find 2 hostid's as you can see in http://www.boincitaly.org/images/fbfiles/images/screenshot_001.png (is a almost fist shot after reinstallation, now i notice in "Credits last day" column 0 for hid:206111 and 1279 for the new hid:223351 )
2. actually(after boinc's reinstall) Boinc manager connect to BAM trough the new hostid(automatically) 223351
3. When i click on old hostid and in its page click BOINC Cross Project IDentifier: da2cc9a77382ef99032a8a6031792c9b (BCPID value is a link) i obtain Detailed statistics for Host ID "7162150" page if then click "Link to users host stats" (image with 3pc's like a triangle) i obtain
1 Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz 1(2) Linux 130,383 0 1,065 0 607 - Detailed statsOvertake stats
2 Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz 1(2) Linux 4,121 1,280 0 0 360 365+

Please can you explain me step by step how can: "Go to each projects account page and either merge or delete obsolete hosts." ?
TIA

You may not be able to Merge the Host's if the OS Versions are different, Some Projects allow this & others don't.

Just go into your Account at the Specific Project & Click on View for Computers on this account

Then Click on Details for the Computer you want to Merge or Delete

Scroll to the Bottom of the Page and it should say Merge and or Delete

Pick your Option and Proceed

NOTE: You can only Delete if there in no Wu's showing on the Computer, this means any Cached, Pending, Error's or Invalid Wu's still on the Computer ....

That i must do it for every project(one by one) i participate i guess... right?. It's not possible do it comfortably from BAM only one time for all projects right?

I don't see any way to do it thru BAM, only to Compare Hosts is Available. So you have to go to every Project to Merge or Delete, if there's no Merge or Delete then you just can't do it ...

I have over 160 Host Id's but don't have 1/10'th that amount a computers, it's to big a job for me to mess with to get rid of them. Some I probably never could anyway because the projects are Closed or Down so they'll be a Permanent Host ID in BAM ...

A lot of them were Created when I switched from P4's to Core 2 Duos and then switched again to Quad Cores. Plus installing Various Versions of Linux on all of them when they already had Windows on them Created more Host Id's ...
