I changed a machine from XP Pro to Vista64 a while back, and when the new configuration went live, a new machine ID had been created. Both IDs below are the same machine, with different op sys, and a capitalised machine name.

Original: 155681 XP Pro machine name = dot

Current: 204148 Vista 64 machine name = Dot

Not sure whether its the capitalised "d" or the op sys change that caused a new ID, but it happened. No credit issues, all assigned to my account, so no dramas there, and at the end of the day I could just leave it lurking - but just trying to "tidy up". The machines will not combine if I try in Project Accounts, and I am not aware of any combine mechanism in the BAM world.

Any solutions/thoughts ?

Operating System is one of the attributes that BOINC uses to define "unique" hosts; even if two hosts are otherwise identical you can't merge them with current BOINC rules.
