Well, let me say one thing to all the british soccer fans out there: looks like the germans declassified your "top star" Wayne Rooney to be nothing more than a loudmouth on the soccer field. He stated that it would be a great honour for the british to out the germans in the worldcup. As it turns out, it went just the other way round
Personally, i see this outcome as a little bit belated birthday present (but a pleasant one nonetheless ) from the german soccer team to myself.
So many thanks to Joachim Löw and his fabulous team, especially to Miroslav Klose, Lukas Podolski and twice to Thomas Müller for their marvellous goals!
Perhaps Mr. Rooney now thinks twice before giving superstitious statements just like he did.

Let us see what the germans can do in the quarter finals against the guys from Argentina.
Oh well, yes, my condolences to the mexican soccer fans out there; in my eyes and humble opinion, your team played way better than the team from Argentina, but the goals do count not the style of playing.

Finally let me quote a german ex-pro who said: "the round leather has to go into the box."

Cheers, , Christopher

PS: No offence to anyone out there, but i was a little bit angry, when i saw the headlines in the british press that said: "It's war once again, Germany"

If FIFA insists in living in the '50's with regard to using instant replay to verify the referee's calls on the field [and keep them honest] . . .

. . . soccer will never catch the imagination of the fans in the USA.

We're too used to the NFL and real football. . . .

@Sid 2: The so-called german soccer experts fear, that with the introduction of technological backup for the referee's calls the "spirit of soccer matches" will be lost. They say, then there is no enthusiasm, emotions and no more disappointment about probably wrong calls of the referee.

My opinion is different: to backup difficult decisions like foul or not in the penalty box, goal or not, use of the hand or not, i would immediately allow the use of modern technologies like instant replay or a chip in the ball.

But with this old j**k (sorry) Joseph Blatter as president of the FIFA, this will never come true, because he dislikes and declines these ideas.

A possibly valid counter-argument is, that the soccer matches would last longer instantly?!

Time for a new generation of wise decision makers in world soccer.

An All Too Rare Occurrence: The World Cup Will Get a New Owner

Every World Cup final since the quadrennial tournament began in 1930 has involved at least one of just four teams: Brazil, Italy, Germany and Argentina. That this year's final will break that 80-year quadropoly is cause for celebration: Either Spain or Holland will win the World Cup for the first time on Sunday at Johannesburg's Soccer City on Sunday.
