Hello all,

I'm sure that this subject as been covered countless times over the years but i'm woundering what the thoughts are of boincing with laptops.

Myself personally i dislike normal computers as they as i see it are 9 to 5 machines just like us humans.
I prefer servers as these by design are for 24/7 use. I know that you can self build /upgrade/ modify all sorts of hardware to make a super cruncher ( and credit card bill !!! )

back to the question....

crunching on laptops...
I don't have a cooler pad - maybe i should invest in one ~ my panasonic toughbook i have never boinced with it as i was worried about hurting it. but as its warrenty as long since run out and by spec is an archaeological dinousour PM 1.5 Centrino.

I want to know what projects have or will put the least ammount of stress on it.

Kindest Regards,

Jon Boy,

I only have one laptop I use for BOINC, it's an Aspire AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual-Core QL-60. This low end system has been crunching for 8 months 24/7 with no extra cooling other than blowing the dust out of the vents every couple of months. During this time it has received credit on a total of 45 projects with no ill effects. I've reduced the list to a few that don't run too long, but really no project should give you any problems. Here's the list I use the most.

Hello,
Many thanks for your reply....

Yes the projects with shorter wu's are also of great interest to me to lessen the load so to speak on the lappie.

Kindest Regards,
