Say I have preferences for Global, Home, and Work. I want to delete the preferences from work entirely. How do I do that? Thanks!

How about using the delete button (the red X). If it does not show it means at least one host is still using the preference.

I see no red "x"s anywhere, and none of my hosts are using the work preferences that I want to delete.

So I created a 'work' work preference just to see what your problem is and there is in fact no red x next to it when I do this. Editing the 'work' work preference and changing its name allowed me to delete it.
