I wanted to concentrate on fewer projects so I tried the delayed detach option. First, I was not sure how to use it and I could not find any instructions. I was not sure if I had to untick attach?

The hosts were running the latest version 5.10.20

I ticked the delayed detach, and waited a few days. The project kept going. I then tried unticking attach? The project disappeared taking the half completed work unit with it.

The no new work checkbox did not seem to work either.

Should these options be working with my version? What is the correct procedure for delay detaching?

My experience has been that going to a specific host... from "Host list" and checking "delayed detach" only, will unmark "attach" and mark "no new work"... however this is on a machine by machine basis. And you have to remember to click the "SET" button at the bottom after you do this.


If you want to see immediate results, give it a minute to process thru all the project sites and then go to that machine and from the boinc manager click tools>Sync with manager. It will put a schedule request in que and boinc will start working thru those and mark the project as "no new work, detach when all work complete".

Othewise this will happen automatically the next time each machine does a sync to BAM on it's schedule 24~48 hours depending on how you have that set.

The biggie I often forget is to click the SET button on the BAM Host screen.

Now for my question to the BAM gurus... same general topic...

If I "delete project" from the "Project list" will this create a delayed detach on each machine or a 'drop like a rock' detach?

Is there a way to do a delayed detach of a project an all attached machines w/o going to the "Host list" and setting each machine to "delayed detach" for that project?
