I'm trying to get the boinc_gui and boinc_cmd to logon to boincstats but no go. I've tried bam.boincstats.com and just boincstats.com, both return an error of "unexpected XML tag or syntax". I'm wondering if I have the right URL and I'm can't find any reference to it on the site.

What exact command are you using? Show the complete command line.

If you've got the GUI, why not simply start it and go to the menu bar: Advanced -> attach to Account manager.

It worked with me, and once youve attached, it will remember this fer the time being until you detach again.

Maybe he was trying to attach as a project. AMS replies have an <account_manager /> tag, maybe BOINC should give an error if you try to attach it as a project (or maybe even change to AMS attach wizard automatically).

I am trying to get this to run in an ec2 cloud and followed the instructions all the way so I do believe it is just my syntax is all

I'm trying to connect my Linux clients to BAM using boinccmd.

The syntax I'm trying is "boinccmd --join_acct_mgr http://bam.boincstats.com/ * *" (where * are my username and password without any quotes "&quot
The returning error is "Operation failed: Error -1". Does anyone know what goed wrong? Why I'm getting this error?
I've managed to connect my Windows clients to BAM with the same username and password. So I know they are correct.

After some serious scrounging on the internet I found a post about somebody who had set a Boinc client password on his linux machine using the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file. I had set a password in this file so I could use BoincView to view all my hosts (I have 7).
In this post he mentioned that any change to Boinc-client's settings required the additional cmdline switch --passwd with the password as mentioned in the file.

So after using this line:


...I managed to succesfully connect 1 of 4 linux machines to BAM!.
