What are the password limitations for BAM!?

Previously I could not use my Boincstats web login and password for BAM! (see other topic).
My password was generared by KeePass: 20 chars, numbers, letters, special characters.
It works on the website but doesn't work in the BAM! client.

I changed my password to something simple (and insecure): 8 numbers & letters.
It works now.

So my question are:

1. What is the maximum password length?
   
2. What are the allowed character classes?

There are no limitations for the password on this website. There may however be problems with exotic characters (non ascii).

I do not know if there are limitations in the "BAM! client" (AKA the BOINC client) since I'm not involved in its development. You should ask that in the BOINC message boards.

Thank you for confirming. My old, more complex and randomly generated password did indeed contain non-ascii characters.
I always use the full Unicode (UTF-8) character set to generate passwords.

Do you have more information on known problems with non-ascii characters?

There are so many non-ascii characters, I can't possibly know which ones work and which don't. Best not to use them I think. The new website will not allow non-ascii characters anymore.
