I don't know if I am just missing something, but I was just reading the BAM F.A.Q. list and the following item disturbed me a bit:

After I've attached to BAM I can't detach from any of the projects. The client says "This project must be detached using the account manager web site". What should I do in order to detach my host from this project?

You must log in to your BAM account, then go to the corresponding detailed host page, uncheck the checkbox next to the project and press "Set". Then update your client from BAM.

Does this mean BAM supercedes the project account? Is it only a problem for detaching/reattaching, or does it affect other account preferences? Although I don't think any of the following possibilities are likely, the mere thought of them makes me hesitant to sign up for the AM part of BAM....

What if Willy's server explodes or (like E@H presently) the air conditioning dies and shuts his server down for a while? What if the site gets overloaded or the CPU overheats and I can't access my BAM account? How do I change my settings?

What if the unimaginable happens and Willy gets hit by a bus or something else big and heavy? After grieving the loss of a great stats site and nice guy, how would I regain control over my projects?

What if Willy turns to the "dark side" and decides to randomly ban certain people from visiting his site? Hey, it could happen!

I suppose one might say I am a bit paranoid, but I have always been told not to put all my eggs in one basket. If an individual project dies, well the project is down, but at least I can still tell Boinc Manager how I wish to communicate with that project. If I understand the FAQ correctly (do I?) then I am effectively transfering some control of my computer to Willy when I attach it to BAM. Is this true? Does BAM really negate the ability to perform certain actions from the project website?

If so, would it be possible to set the system up so that participants can modify settings or perform all actions from either location? That would be ideal in my opinion.

If you want to do something with your client that the client (!) doesn't let you because it's attached to BAM, simply disconnect from BAM. All controls are then back to you.

When you're done, reconnect to BAM. In most cases, BAM will recognize the host and registers it under the same Host ID as before.
