I tried posting this question in the general BAM area, but have gotten no replies, hopefully this area will be more productive.

I am currently unable to add a host to BAM. Every time I try I get an error, and am encouraged to try again. later. I have been trying on and off for a week now with no luck. Within that same time period I have been able to add other hosts, so I know that my user name and password are good.

The log from Boinc reads as follows:

Mon Feb 8 12:36:20 2010 Fetching configuration file from http://bam.boincstats.com/get_project_config.php
Mon Feb 8 12:36:37 2010 Contacting account manager at http://bam.boincstats.com/
Mon Feb 8 12:36:38 2010 Account manager: Unable to add host to BAM!. Please try again later.
Mon Feb 8 12:36:38 2010 Account manager error: 0 Unable to add host to BAM!. Please try again later.

I am suspecting some sort of CPID problem, but I am unclear on what the problem is, or how to resolve it.

Thanks for any help that you can offer.

Did you see the thread Bug Submit Guidelines! in this subforum?

Especially the following points:
7: If the bug concerns a host/client, include the hostname in the post.

8: Include the contents of acct_mgr_request.xml and acct_mgr_reply.xml when BAM! returns errors or behaves inappropriate to the host. Remove the authenticator and passwords from the text!

Gruß,

My apologies, in my frustration with my initial post, I neglected to read the guidelines for this area. My bad. Let's see if this is better.

In the "for what it is worth department."

  • I had thought that this system was connected to BAM!, but recently noticed it was not.
  • This host was created by migrating from another system (over a year ago.)

This thread has been sitting unaddressed (other than my initial posting error) for a while now. I absence of any replies, can someone offer some alternative for tech support. I hate to clutter the boards by re-posting the same question in different headings, but I am at a lost for how to proceed from here.

Thanks, MacAttack

The problem is the migration. A host with that host_cpid and host_authenticator (you blurred it, nobody can use it except BAM!, but I'm pretty sure it starts with 5aa8) already exists, so can't be added again.

In your host list the existing host is the one with id 14886. If you go to the details of that host you will find a delete link at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I have only two hosts listed in my "host list," and neither one of them has of host id of 14886.

Ah, I see. That list only shows hosts that connected in the last 30 days.

I added a link to show all hosts.

Willy, I have a problem with adding a host to the list at: http://boincstats.com/bam/host_list.php?allhosts=y.
The only Host showing is Larry LeClair-PC that is a laptop... If I try to add another Pc Such as lllvettePCI7 and set. it comes back up with the Laptop info...
If I delete the laptop and then add the lllvettePCI7 it comes back with the I7 info. Basically It will not add multiple systems.

Have I missed something about BAM all along? Why would you need to manually set up a host?
