Hi folks,

I recently had to upgrade the version of BOINC Manager on one of my crunchers. After doing this and connecting to BAM, it created a new Host in my Host List. Is there any way to merge the 2?

Thanks,

-ST

There is no merging functionality in BAM!. It would not be very useful as well.

Just delete the old host.

Done.

Will my total credit for that host update automatically to include the old host ID's credit? That's mainly why I wanted to do that, it's the only place where I can see total credit per host across all projects.

Thanks Willy,

BAM! hosts have no influence on the credits.

Sure they do - if you click the graph link to the right of any of your hosts you get credits for the individual machine across all projects. That's the only place I can find it.

Check it out.

What about host list available from your stats page?

Deleting or adding hosts to BAM! does not influence the stats as the stats are extracted from the projects, which have their own host lists.

BAM! does not grant credit.

Sure there is a link from a BAM! host to a stats host, but that is just by using a code (host-CPID) which BAM! and the projects share.

Right - if you look, the last one is the brand new XP 2500+, which is now split off from it's original stats much higher on the list.

I think I'm SOL, and I think I'm gonna avoid updating BOINC until I have to. Grrr....

Just thought of something. Is there a way to preserve the projects you are connected to when you upgrade - like a backup/restore? Would that prevent this problem since the machine doesn't have to reconnect to the project?

I know how to do this when maintaining the version, but I'm not sure how to when changing versions.

If you currently lose your attached projects after upgrading, You're Doing It Wrong.

Thanks, I agree.

What am I doing that's wrong, or how do you do it right? What information can I provide you to determine what I am doing wrong?

Well, it's strange. BOINC isn't supposed to delete your projects when you uninstall. I remember it happened to somebody else (I'll link to the forum thread when I find it). It could be you doing something wrong, or BOINC doing something wrong, or your OS. What OS and BOINC version do you have?

Figured out one correct way to do it tonight when I got home. Suspend > Exit > Run 5.8.11 installer > Install to the same location > Open 5.8.11 = Done-ski.

Oh well, 1 wrong upgrade, the rest are correct. Not sure what I fudged on the other machine.

Thanks for the help folks.
